Stopped here on a whim, so glad we did. Everyone had something different and it was all excellent. Hawaiian BBQ sandwich, chili cheese fries and meat loaf!! 5 stars from everyone. And the service was wonderful! Eat here if you are in Sturgis, prices reasonable too.
This place looked good, but as soon as we walked in, we were treated horribly! Having worked in the food industry for 15 years, I understand that sometimes the busy lunch rush can leave a server stressed out and I can give them a pass if I can see they're busy and don't have a lot of time to be super engaged. However, the dining room was only filled with a few patrons and was not busy at all. We weren't greeted, just a "have a seat anywhere". When we reached for menus at the front, we were dismissively told, "that's the wrong menu", as she went about her business ignoring us. Another server came over to the table after we sat down(menus in hand, would have been nice to be reassured that menus would be brought before we sat down and urged to find a seat) to take our drink order and was dismissive of our order as if she didn't want to serve us, eye rolls and all. Then, as she was communicating with the rude server who greeted us about our drinks she was yelling and arguing from across the restaurant with her. All of our experiences here led us to getting the check for our drinks and getting the hell out of there. We decided on Jambonz down the road and did not regret it!! Rachel from Jambonz was awesome and so was our delicious meal!! Moral of the story is, DON'T GO HERE- THEY ARE HORRIBLE AT SERVING AND CREATING A GOOD DINING EXPERIENCE. THEY DON'T CARE ABOUT THEIR CUSTOMERS, PERIOD.BTW, as we were leaving we saw a happy couple go in and walk straight back out with frowns- I think that's telling we weren't singled out and this is the norm with this place.
The staff was so kind and accommodating and the food delicious. Highly recommended!
Mashed potatoes with chicken fried chicken were not mashed enough, were not hot, not enough gravy. Sausage gravy was too much sausage, not enough gravy to it. Do not serve a steak sandwich with a bun, should be served with toast.
The catfish meal was awesome. The hush puppies are tender and light. We had a great dinner.
